“We had a fun and busy fall tour after the release of our first CD in many years, When I’m Free. The title, Western Skies, comes from the chorus of song I wrote with help from Tim. It’s about the thing that happens when you find yourself out west: the sky opens up and you feel a sense of freedom and possibility that is more elusive on a cold and dreary day back east. That feeling drew Tim O’Brien and Pete Wernick and me from the east to Colorado in the 70’s. Even now, when things are closing in or getting you down, we need to be reminded of that feeling of wide open spaces. Thanks to our tour manager and sound engineer, Dan Foldes of Pint of Soul, for capturing this view of our life on the road.” Nick Forster Hot Rize returns to the road in March, presenting the songs from “When I’m Free”, along with other favorite Hot Rize classics.
